On May 12th, Governor Wes Moore signed two more bills to protect and improve the lives of animals and people in Maryland.
SB314 – Pet Food Donation Liability Waiver – Senator Waldstreicher
Maryland became the first state in the nation to pass legislation providing liability protection for pet food donations. SB314 removes barriers that prevent safe, unused pet food from reaching animals and organizations in need, reducing waste while supporting pets and families across the state. Additional pet supplies are also covered in this bill.

HB564 – Pet Crematory Oversight – Delegate Allen
The passage of HB564 establishes clearer standards and oversight for pet crematoriums, offering transparency, accountability and peace of mind for families during difficult moments.

Maryland Votes for Animals is grateful to Governor Moore, our bill sponsors, our partners including Humane World for Animals, and the many advocates who used our Action Alerts to urge their legislators to support these bills. These wins truly show that animal welfare matters to Marylanders!
